From Execution Management consultant to leading a team of 11 Deployment Engineers, Gustavo Lascurain's four-and-a-half years at Celonis track the rise of a new kind of delivery career—one built on curiosity, ownership, and AI-augmented judgment. We sat down with him to talk about how the Celonis Services team in EMEA is delivering at the leading edge of Process Intelligence and AI.

From Consultant to Leader: Gustavo's Celonis journey

Gustavo joined Celonis around four and a half years ago as an Execution Management consultant, working with customers across industries, implementing the full range of platform capabilities. From there, he stepped into project management, learning how to run a project end to end and own its success. Today he leads as a Manager at Celonis Services, Center of Excellence (CoE).

Where Enterprise AI Gets Delivered

Process Intelligence and AI are reshaping how global businesses operate, and the Services team sits right at the center of that change. For Gustavo, this is what makes a career here fundamentally different from traditional tech implementation or legacy consulting: the team doesn't just talk about AI, it deploys it.

"We're leveraging AI in most of our implementations, and our Deployment Engineers are the ones capable of delivering these solutions to our customers. We really understand why context matters in the deployment of AI solutions—so we go from knowledge to execution."

Celonis Services is the delivery engine of the company: the team responsible for turning the platform into measurable, business-critical outcomes. As AI agents take on more of the technical build, the people focus on the work that drives real impact—understanding customers' hardest problems, designing the solutions that solve them, and quantifying the value delivered.

Empowering Teams and Building an Innovation Culture

Delivering high-stakes business transformation requires a culture of autonomy and continuous improvement. Gustavo empowers his team by giving them different opportunities that will make them better Deployment Engineers. "I try to always be close to them to support them when needed," he shares. "It’s extremely rewarding to see their growth after every project".

Across the Celonis Services EMEA CoE, this growth mindset translates into a deep obsession with innovation. "We really want to build deep domain knowledge and be the center of innovation for the Celonis capabilities," Gustavo notes. "We are obsessed with improving things and sharing knowledge broadly.

While technical proficiency gets you in the door, a specific mindset sets great Celonauts apart. According to Gustavo, the ultimate "superpower" is curiosity.

"A key skill and mindset of anyone out there looking to join Celonis and become a Deployment Engineer is to be curious and find innovative ways to fix different problems."
