At Celonis, our Bangalore Engineering Hub is at the heart of building the next generation of Process Intelligence technology. From frontend and backend systems to data integration and task mining, our engineers are shaping the products that help businesses uncover inefficiencies and turn insight into action. As a fast-growing, collaborative team, they bring ownership, curiosity, and innovation to everything they do, driving real impact across Celonis’ global platform.

At Celonis, we’re on a mission to make processes work for people, companies, and the planet. As our products evolve, so does our engineering footprint, and the new Bangalore Engineering Hub marks a major leap forward. This isn’t just an extension of our global engineering network; it’s a new center of excellence shaping the future of Celonis technology, powered by some of the brightest minds in software engineering.

The Bangalore Hub brings together startup energy and global scale, a fast-growing community of engineers building the next generation of Process Intelligence technology.

To understand how the hub is taking shape, we asked some of the people behind it, from the engineering leader setting the direction to the first hires helping bring the vision to life.

Building with Impact

For Sarang Sahani, Senior Director of Engineering and the leader of the Bangalore hub, the mission is clear:

“We’re building and scaling our engineering presence into a powerhouse of innovation,” he says. “Our teams here are responsible for critical modules of the Celonis Process Intelligence platform, from core platform capabilities to data integration and task mining. What excites me most is empowering engineers in India to independently drive design, architecture, and delivery.”

Sarang brings a background in intelligent automation and GenAI-driven workflow systems and saw Celonis as a natural next step.

“Celonis isn’t just another software company,” he explains. “It’s defining and leading the Process Intelligence category. The ability to ‘X-ray’ how businesses operate and guide them toward better outcomes is incredibly powerful. Building this hub gives us the opportunity to make that technology even stronger.”

The long-term vision is a globally trusted engineering center that embodies Celonis’ core values of innovation, excellence, and ownership, and delivers transformative value to businesses around the world.

Founding Engineers

When Ankit, now a Staff Frontend Engineer, joined Celonis India, there was no Engineering team in Bangalore, just an idea.

“I’d been chasing Celonis for almost two years,” he laughs. “My friend Santosh, who’s a senior engineer, based in Munich, always talked about the amazing technology and people. When I heard Celonis was opening an engineering office in India, I applied immediately. I’m proud to say I was the first engineer hired here.”

Being a founding engineer meant starting from scratch.
“We’re literally building everything from the ground up, defining processes, solving problems, shaping the culture. We call ourselves founding engineers because that’s what it feels like.”

Today, Ankit helps build user experiences powered by Angular and TypeScript, manages large-scale monorepos with Nx, and ensures the frontend stack stays modern and reliable. His proudest moment so far?

“Setting up the entire interview process for hiring Frontend Engineers in India. It helped us bring in amazing talent, and set the tone for what kind of engineering culture we want here.”

Building the Core Platform

The Bangalore team is central to delivering new capabilities for the Celonis Process Intelligence platform. Engineers here work on building robust, scalable modules that power process mining, automation, and analytics features. They focus on integrating data from multiple enterprise systems, ensuring workflows run seamlessly, and designing AI-driven insights that help businesses make better decisions.

This is a hub where experimentation meets enterprise-scale impact. Teams prototype, validate, and scale features rapidly while following well-defined engineering processes. The hub operates with three pillars in mind: investing in core engineering capability, enabling partner ecosystems, and developing local talent for sustained growth.

“My ex-colleague recommended Celonis. They said it’s an engineering-first company, and that really resonated with me.”

Inside a Day at the Bangalore Hub

So what does life inside Celonis Bangalore actually look like?

For Ankit, the day starts with collaboration.

“As a Frontend Engineer, I spend my day refining our user experience, building new features, improving code quality, and making sure everything integrates smoothly. I love that we have the freedom to experiment and the structure to do things right.”

Meanwhile, Digvijay Wadkar, Senior Fullstack Engineer, splits his time between backend design and scaling systems.

“I work with Java, Spring Boot, PostgreSQL, and microservices architecture,” he explains. “My day is a mix of designing reliable services and making sure they perform well at scale. We collaborate across time zones, Germany, the US, India, and that keeps us in sync with the global engineering strategy.”

What makes the hub tick is the sense of ownership. Everyone takes part in shaping how the team operates, from designing better onboarding for new joiners to refining interview processes.

“Even in my first few months, I was interviewing candidates,” says Digvijay. “One of them joined recently, and seeing them contribute already, that’s real impact.”

Across the teams, engineers describe their days as dynamic and empowering: solving real problems, improving systems, and continuously learning from each other.

Manas Pandey, Staff Backend Engineer

“The existing opportunity to be one of the founding engineers in Bangalore is incredibly compelling. It’s not just a job; it’s a chance to have a pivotal role from day one.”

Teamwork That Works

Ask anyone in the Bangalore hub what defines Celonis, and they’ll likely mention the same thing: ownership.

“My favorite company value is We Own It,” says Ankit. “It’s about taking full responsibility for what you build, not just finishing a task, but ensuring the outcome really moves the product forward.”

Manas Pandey, a Staff Backend Engineer, agrees.
“Ownership transforms employees into true partners in success,” he says. “It means anticipating challenges, fixing issues before they become problems, and building trust through results.”

That culture extends beyond code. Engineers at Celonis are passionate about continuous learning, from experimenting with new libraries in Angular or Node.js to diving into the latest backend innovations. Collaboration is built into everything they do, whether it’s pairing with global teammates or sharing insights from the latest GenAI or automation tools.

“We learn a lot from each other,” says Manas. “Peer learning gives you real-world, battle-tested insights that no course can.”
