Get a behind-the-scenes look at how UK&I Site Leader Rupal Karia shapes the culture and success of Celonis’ London office. Learn how Celonis fosters a positive work environment, drives community impact, and brings people together to create a thriving workplace.

A great office isn’t just about desks and meeting rooms. It’s about energy, culture, and the people who bring it to life. That’s where our Site Leaders come in.

They shape the Celonis experience, from creating a space where teams excel, to driving local impact beyond our walls.

We sat down with our UK&I Site Leader Rupal Karia to talk about what it takes to run a Celonis office, build a strong team environment, and create a workplace where people want to be.

Tell us what it means to be a site leader at Celonis, and what attracted you to the company.

“I was attracted to Celonis as I wanted to build a company and shape its culture during its hyper growth stage. Being responsible for the site is a key part of the people and culture strategy for the UK&I.

As the Site Leader for the UK&I, I get involved in all aspects of making the office the best there is; from the look and feel, to the social events, plants and possibly most importantly…snacks. But it’s more than simply what we have in the office and all about creating the right atmosphere and culture, making it a place that people want to be.”

How do you balance your day job with your responsibilities as a site leader?

“I don’t differentiate between my role as Country Leader and Site Leader. Part of being a great leader is creating a great environment to work in. You can’t underestimate the impact of a positive and happy office.”

How has Celonis brought value and impact to the community in the local region?

“I love the fact that all of our events are run by our employees who volunteer and have the passion for it. We have Impact Days that let us do things for society without impacting the day job and we try to make sure that there are things for everyone to do. During our last Impact Day we tried to really bring this to life; we had a blood donation group, another group working at a cafe that supports those who are homeless and some took part in sporting activities whilst donating to charity.

We are also located close by to Great Ormond Street Hospital and held a Charity Bake Off at Christmas raising money for them. We plan to do lots more events like this and give back to organisations that make such a difference. “

What is life at Celonis and the culture like in your office?

“We are still a small (but growing) company, so culture is key and built by the local leadership. The advantage of growing together is that most people know one another; those regular chats and ‘hellos’ are important and our office lunches and the ability to all take time out to eat together feels really special.

We had an employee leave and go to a large organisation and he commented that no one speaks to each other outside of that team - it was alien to him and I think this speaks volumes about the culture and atmosphere that we have at Celonis.”

Can you share any local celebrations or office events you’ve hosted that employees loved?

“This year we tried a lot of new things; things that work we will do more of and those that don’t, we learn from. Generally lots of events are based around eating and drinking which is great, but not suited to everyone. We make sure that we have our core events such as Quarterly All Hands get togethers, Summer and Winter parties and End of Quarter parties which are well attended. We try to mix these up and come up with different ideas that will appeal to as many people as possible, and most importantly, be fun!

We decided to add celebrations for Diwali, Eid, Christmas and other festivals to celebrate but also to open a dialogue about what these different celebrations represent and mean. We also added a Paddle Club for the team who wanted to take up a new sport as well as a book club that represents diverse interests. For me it’s about having choices so there is something for everyone.”

How do you encourage employees to take ownership in making processes work not only for businesses but also for people and the planet?

“Our entire calendar is run by our employees. Yes, I have to sign things off but we push as much of the ownership to the teams as possible. My experience is that people really feel invested in the Company and making it a great place to work; we don’t have to look hard to find willing volunteers to take part, it feels like a true team effort.”

“I think when a leader and company align, work feels natural to you and you can be your complete self. I am lucky that my leadership values and those of Celonis align well.”
